The Friends of the Longmont Library are a group of people who love the library! Volunteering is easy and fun, with short manageable time slots that are flexible enough for any schedule. Whatever your skills, we’ve got a position for you.
Here are some volunteering opportunities. Simply fill out the form below — let us know what you might be interested in doing in the Comment section — and our Volunteer Coordinator will contact you with all the details.
We have monthly book sales from September to April. Opportunities include:
- Set up and/or tear down the book sales
- Truck drivers: transfer book boxes from the “basement” storage room to the Book Sale site
- Cashier during the book sales
- Floaters keep the books organized during the book sale.
Be a part of our year-round Book Shop found in the lobby of the Longmont Library. Tasks include selecting and pricing books, stocking shelves, dusting, cleaning books and more!
Sorts books according to genre in the Friends Sorting Room. Best if you are an analytical thinker, organized and like to follow directions.
Counts the proceeds from the Friends Book Shop on Fridays and/or at the monthly book sales. Choose how much or little you’d like to do.
A Friends Ambassador will make a 2-3 minute presentation at the beginning of Library events sponsored by the Friends. Then provide a table filled with Friends informational materials for people who are interested in becoming Friends Members.
BOX PICKER-UPPERS: We store books for our monthly book sales in beer boxes — which means we need *a lot* of beer boxes. Boxes need to be picked up and delivered to our sorting room, on a regular basis, as often as you desire. Training takes less than five minutes.
OFFICE HELP: General office support such as make phone calls, stuff envelopes, make copies.
